Bernadette Peters

 

Bernadette Peters, born Lazzara was born on February 28 1948. She is an American singer, actress and children's writer. Over a career spanning over six decades she's been a part of the musical theatre, on television and in film, and performed in performances on her own and recorded. She is a critically acclaimed Broadway performer, having received seven nominations for Tony Awards, winning two (plus an honorary award) as well as nine Drama Desk Award nominations, winning three. Grammy Awards have been won by four of the Broadway cast albums that she has appeared in.



 



 Considered by many to be the foremost interpreter of of Stephen Sondheim. Peters is recognized for her performances on the Broadway stage, which includes the musicals Mack and Mabel (1974), Sunday in the Park with George (1984), Song and Dance (1985), Into the Woods (1987), The Goodbye Girl (1993), Annie Get Your Gun (1999), Gypsy (2003), A Little Night Music (2010), Follies (2011), and Hello, Dolly (2018).
